Brooklyn Nets Potential Big 3 Trades

The Nets have made the Big 3 of D Will, Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez.  We had some fun making up trade scenarios for them.

Lakers: Julius Randle (4/3mil) and Jeremy Lin (1/8.4mil)
Nets: Brook Lopez (2/15.7mil)
If the Nets are trying to rebuild the entire roster this would be a good move.  They get rid of the injury prone Lopez and get the 7th pick in last years draft on a cheap and long rookie contract.  Also they get Lin who is a big expiring contract.  The Lakers get an All Star Center in Lopez who could pair with Kobe in his last couple of years if he can stay healthy.

Rockets: Patrick Beverley (1/915k) Jason Terry (1/5.8mil) and Papanikolaou (2/4.7mil) 2015 1st round pick, use Lin trade exception
Nets: Deron Williams (3/19.7mil)

Another big rebuilding move to free up a ton of cap space.  Beverley is a solid defensive guard, probably not a starting PG.  Terry is a good size expiring contract and Papa is a young player who has played nicely in his rookie year.
Hornets: Lance Stephenson (3/9mil) Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2/5mil) Marvin Williams (2/7mil)
Nets: Joe Johnson (2/23mil) Mirza Teletovic (1/3.3mil)

The Hornets roster plan has not worked out, much like the Nets, but the Hornets still feel they can contend this year.  Bringing in Joe Johnson to be a scorer with Big Al makes sense and unloading the Stephenson experiment would take a load off their chest.  The Nets can test out Stephenson, who only signed a two year deal, and get a young MKG(21).

Mavericks: Chandler Parsons (3/14.7mil) and Brandan Wright (1/5mil) 2015 2nd round pick
Nets: Deron Williams (3/19.7mil)

The Mavs have long coveted D Will and could swing their big free agent Parsons, who has not had a stellar start to this year, for him.  The Nets get a young player who has All Star potential in Parsons and a long shot blocker in Wright who is also expiring.

Possible Dion Waiter Trades

The Cleveland Cavaliers need what the Heat had and that is defense.  A solid perimeter wing defender would be ideal to insert in the Cleveland lineup to make them an elite defensive team like the Heat were.  Dion Waiters has always been in the news for complaining about his role or not starting and plays below average defense.  I imagine the Cavs are listening to possible deals for him to better their team right now.

Minnesota T'wolves
Corey Brewer 4.7 mil
Dion Waiters 4.1 mil

Brewer has been in trade rumors recently, mostly with Houston as they could use a wing defender like the Cavs.  If Cleveland can swap Waiters for Brewer I believe that the Cavs would do that deal as they are in the win now mode.  Waiters is younger (only 22) and plays the 2 guard like rookies Wiggins, Lavine, and the current starter Martin but the Twolves are rebuilding and could just want as much talent as they can get no matter position right now.

Atlanta Hawks
Demarre Carol 2.44 mil
John Jenkins 1.3
Dion Waiters 4.1 mil
2nd round pick 2015

The Hawks lost sixth man Louis Williams to Toronto and Waiters could give them needed bench scoring at the guard spot.  The Cavs would get a solid perimeter defender in Demarre Carol and a young 2 guard in Jenkins who has some potential.

Denver Nuggets
Aaron Afflalo 7.5 mil
Timofey Mozgov 4.6 mil
Dion Waiters 4.1 mil
Tristan Thompson 5.1 mil
Lou Amundson 1.3 mil

Many of you will say this is a crazy trade but I think it works for both teams.  The Cavs get an instant upgrade on offense and defense.  Afflalo is a great wing defender and a good scorer, definitely an upgrade over Waiters.  Thompson may be better than Mozgov but Mozgov gives them a shot blocking center which they could use.  The Nuggets only do this because I think they are in rebuilding mode and Waiters is a young promising player (22) who could turn into a solid player and so is Thompson, but Thompson also is a 5.1 mil expiring contract along with Amundson that could give them cap relief.

I was gonna put a ridiculous LeBron trade in here but decided against it..

Sacramento Kings Season Player Grades

Quincy Acy- C
An energy guy who played well for the Kings rebounding, blocking shots, and throwing down powerful dunks.  However, Acy kind of fell out of the rotation when the Kings acquired a similar player in Reggie Evans, who played a good amount of minutes. Acy picked up some DNP's and looks like he is expendable.

Demarcus Cousins- A

Cousins had a phenomenal year and would have definitely been an All Star if the Center position was still a category.  Still he should have been an All Star given he averaged 22.7 ppg, most for any center in the league, and 11.7 rpg, 5th best in the league.  Cousins looked dominant and really could not be stopped by anyone and picked up his defensive effort this year maybe do to Mike Malone's coaching.  He didn't receive an A+ from me because he still led the league in technicals but that is his only downside.

Jared Cunningham- F/INC

He really shot the ball terribly with the Kings, 16.7% from 3 and 26% overall.  He didn't get really much of a chance to show what he can do but he looked very athletic and maybe can become an Avery Bradley type player.

Reggie Evans- B+

Evans came in late with the Thornton trade and played extremely well.  His offense surprised me greatly as well as his incredible hustle on the offensive and defensive glass.  He added 8.2 rpg in April and had 18 and 14 rebounding games.  He is not a tremendous defensive player as he had no blocks from a guy who plays Center and power forward but his hustle made up for it.  Also, he is a great locker room guy to have to mentor Cousins and he always was encouraging his teammates.

Rudy Gay- A

Rudy probably had his best stint as a pro with the Kings as he shot a very impressive percentage after being traded because his fg% was so bad.  He had 6 30 point games for the Kings and looked like a superstar in his time with the Kings.  He was arguably the 3rd or 4th best small forward the second half of the season behind KD and LBJ (Melo was probably 3 and Paul George had a pretty bad second half of the year).

Aaron Gray- D+

Aaron Gray really did not play too much as he was behind Acy for the backup C spot but had some nice games early which I thought were promising as he was grabbing boards and getting inside buckets but he struggled to stay in the rotation especially when Evans arrived.

Carl Landry- F
A really injury plagued season for Landry who the Kings gave a pretty big contract (probably shouldn't have) as he played on 233 minutes total.  When he was played he had no lift and never looked comfortable on the floor, hopefully next year he is back to where he was last season with the Warriors.

Ray McCallum - B-
Ray never got consistent minutes until Thornton was traded then he showed what he could do.  He struggled at first and then when Isaiah Thomas went down he was the only point guard on the roster and got big minutes and really shined. He had three games with at least 20 point in the last nine games of the season and two 10 assist games.  McCallum could be really good player and might be the starter next year if Isaiah Thomas leaves in free agency and the Kings don't find someone better than Ray.  That being said the Kings should have game him more minutes earlier in the season to better prepare him for next year.

Ben Mclemore- C+
Ben started off the season pretty solid but then got benched and had some games where he would play 30 minutes and have zero points so he really hit the rookie wall.  However, Ben picked it up at the end of the year and showed he can be a player in this league scoring in double figures in 11 of his last 13 games and finishing the year with a 31 point game.  His defense needs to improve as well as his ability to create off the dribble but he could be a really good player.

Travis Outlaw- C

He had an average season and sometimes he would disappear but he played some good minutes filling in for guys with injuries.  He's a veteran guy who is always ready to play when called on and is still very athletic.

Wille Reed- INC

He didn't record any minutes.

Jason Terry- INC

He didn't record any minutes with the Kings.

Isaiah Thomas- A

IT had an outstanding year and should have been considered for most improved player as he averaged 20 ppg and 6 apg, increasing his averages by 6 and 2.  With his strong play in the beginning of the year the Kings traded Vasquez and Thomas got the starter role and played terrific.  Thomas was the fourth highest scoring PG (better than All Stars Chris Paul and John Wall) and 11th in apg (ahead of  West All Stars Damian Lillard and Tony Parker).  Thomas is a free agent this year and should get offers in the 6-8 million a season so it will be tough for the Kings to sign him in Gay opts in his deal.

Jason Thompson- C
JT had a tough year averaging the least ppg in his career and second lowest mpg.  He still is a good backup C/PF who can give you hustle and energy but not much offensively.  He showed his displeasure with this season in an interview just a couple weeks ago and I would not be surprised if he gets traded.

Derrick Williams- C
Derrick Williams looked like he was going to be amazing in Sacramento as he got inserted into the starting lineup early and played really well.  He seemed to put energy in the Kings season and jump them into the fastbreak more with his big dunks and alley oops.  However, when Rudy Gay came on the team Williams lost a lot of minutes and even when he was out there he didn't do much and I almost forgot he was out there.

The rumors have began again that the Knicks want Faried again for a package around Shumpert.  I don't see the Nuggets taking a straight up Faried for Shumpert deal though and I think the Nuggets will want to move the 37 year old PG who has 2 yrs at 5 mil a year on his contract left.  That's where the Kings come in who have been interested in Miller.
TRADE
Nuggets: Iman Shumpert, Jimmer Freddette, Cole Aldrich, Kings 2nd rnd pick 2014
Knicks: Kenneth Faried, Travis Outlaw
Kings: Andre Miller, Beno Udrih

Why Nuggets do it: The Nuggets get a very promising young player in Shumpert who has star potential and they get to get rid of a bad contract in Miller who is not even playing for them all while acquiring Jimmer as a backup PG and getting an early second round pick.  Aldrich is a throw in with one year left on his deal who might play a decent amount of minutes for them this season because of the Nuggs lack of depth in the frontcourt.

Why Knicks do it:  They have long coveted Faried and they have been looking to ship Shumpert for some time so they get what they want. However they have to take on Outlaws contract at 3 mill a year for two years but they can ship Udrih who is upset at his playing time.

Why the Kings do it:  The Kings get Miller who they have had interest in all season to mentor Isaih Thomas and give him minutes as a pass first PG.  The Kings also shed Outlaw's contract for giving up their second round pick and get Udrih back who spent many years in Sac for only the rest of the season.

Brandon Bass Potential Trades

Suns: Brandon Bass and Gerald Wallace
Celtics: Emeka Okafor and PJ Tucker

The Celtics get the most sought after expiring deal in Oakafor's 14 million contract and Tucker who also has an expiring deal.  The Hard Part will be for the Suns to take Wallace's terrible contract but if the suns are looking to make a run this year Wallace could actually help them at SF and Bass is rumored to be wanted by the Suns.

Warriors: Brandon Bass
Celtics: Jermaine O'neal and Mareese Speights and 1st round pick 2015

The Warriors also are rumored to be interested in Bass after losing Landry in free agency this summer they miss having a bruiser at the backup PF spot.  Landry's replacements, JO and Speights, have not got it done and the Warriors would be willing to swap those guys for Bass by giving up their 1st pick in 2015 estimated to be in the late 20's.

Bobcats: Brandon Bass and Avery Bradley
Celtics: Josh Mcroberts Bismack Biyombo Jeff Adrien and first pick from Blazers 2014

The Bobcats have been rumored to have interest in Bass for upgrading the PF spot.  Bradley also would give them a defensive stopper and scorer off the bench.  The Celtics would receive 2 million less in salary and an expiring 1 million dollar deal in Adrien as well as two young athletic big men.

Jeff Green to the Hawks Potential Trade

Hawks: Jeff Green and Avery Bradley
Celtics: Elton Brand, Lou Williams, 1st round pick, 2nd round pick

The Celtics are in rebuilding mode and are trying to stock up on expiring contracts and draft picks.  Also the Celtics are rumored to be trying to trade away Jeff Green and his 19 million dollar deal over two years and the Hawks seem to be interested.  Green could be key to the Hawks making a playoff run and possibly knocking off one of the 2 powerhouses in the East.

Avery Bradley has also been in trade rumors after he denied an extension earlier this year and has been injury prone his whole career.

Lou Williams has been a successful sixth man in this league and could be the Celtics sixth man of the future while Elton Brand has an expiring contract that would take 4 million off the books.  TheHawks first round pick is projected to be around 16th overall which could turn into a nice player in this deep draft.

Eric Gordon Potential Trades

With the Pelicans struggling to make the roster full of ball handlers work with Holiday, Evans, and Gordon. They have been looking to move Gordon before the deadline.  Gordon has 3 years and 14 million per year left on his contract so the Pelicans would be happy to move him.   The Pelicans have also been rumored to be in the market for a big man since of so many injuries so a Gordon dela could bring a big man in too. Here are some potential trades:
Pelicans Get: Danny Granger
Pacers Get: Eric Gordon

This trade would give the Pelicans a ton more cap space for free agency as Granger has a 14 million expiring contract at seasons end.  Granger could still be a viable scorer this year from three point range and could be a nice fit at starting small forward and then slide Evans into the starting SG role.  If the fit works then Granger might resign next season on a new, cheaper deal. The Pacers would get another scorer and three point shooter that could put them over the top to beat Miami and win the NBA Finals.

Pelicans Get: Randy Foye, Timofey Mozgov, Darrell Arthur, Andre Miller
Nuggets Get: Eric Gordon, Darius Miller, Jeff Withey

This trade would adress the Pelicans injury needs instantly.  Andre Miller is in trade rumors and could give the Pelicans PG help with Holiday out.  Mozgov is having a nice season filling in for Mcgee at C and with him out is averaging 10 points, 6 boards and 1.3 blocks in 22 minutes. Foye is averaging 2 threes and 11 points per game and 13 a game the past month.  The Nuggets would get another playmaker which they desperately need with Gallo out in Gordon.  Lawson has been the only playmaker for them this season with Chandler playing more as a catch and shoot scrappy player.

Pelicans Get: Spencer Hawes and Evan Turner
76ers Get: Eric Gordon and Darius Miller 2nd Round pick

Both Hawes and Turner have expiring contracts and it has been rumored recently that the 6ers are trying to package them in a trade.  This could help the Pelicans this year as well as free up cap space.  The 76ers are rebuilding around MCW and might see Gordon as a nice pairing next to him in the backcourt.  Also they get a second year player in Darius Miller who has some potential and a second round pick in the low 40 range in a deep draft.

Andre Miller Potential Trades

Andre Miller has been benched by Coach Brian Shaw and has recently been in trade rumors.

Nuggets Get: Jimmer Freddette and Travis Outlaw
Kings Get: Andre Miller

The Kings need a backup point guard since the trade of Vasquez and Miller would be a good veteran to help out Isaiah Thomas.  The Nuggets would get Jimmer who has potential to be a a good bench scorer at the guard position.

Nuggets Get: Eric Maynor and Jan Vesely
Wizards Get: Andre Miller

The Wizards can get a veteran backup point guard as Maynor hasn't worked out for them.  The Nuggets get an expiring deal in Vesely and Maynor showed promise earlier in his career.

Nuggets Get: Matt Bonner and Nick De Colo
Spurs Get: Andre Miller and Quincy Miller

A solid veteran point guard in Andre Miller would be a great fit for him and Quincy is a solid wing defender.  The Nuggets will get 2 expiring contracts and a 3 point shooting power forward as well as a young point guard.

JR Smith Potential Trade Scenarios

With JR Smith in some heat recently for his on court antics trade rumors have been swirling.  Here are few trades that could benefit the Knicks and other teams.

KNICKS GET: STEVE BLAKE AND JODIE MEEKS
LAKERS GET: JR SMITH
The Laker's need help scoring now if they want to make a run at the playoffs and JR Smith could boost their offense.  The Knicks in return would get two expiring contracts in Blake and Meeks to free up cap space as well as PG help and two solid 3 point shooters.

KNICKS GET: DION WAITERS AND CJ MILES
CAVS GET: JR SMITH
Dion Waiters has had problems in Cleveland and is looking for a fresh start and the young 2 guard could boost the Knicks this year.  CJ Miles offers another three point threat, he made 10 in one game this year.  The Cavs are looking to improve the look of their roster as much as possible to potentially land Lebron in free agency and JR Smith could help.

KNICKS GET: STEVEN ADAMS AND THABO SEFOLOSHA
THUNDER GET: JR SMITH AND PABLO PRIGIONI
The Knicks get the 12th pick in last years draft, Steven Adams, who is a similar player as Tyson Chandler and who could be a true backup center for them.  Also Sefolosha is a lockdown defender who could help one of the worst defensive teams in the league.  The Thunder get a scorer they desperately need with Westbrook out and when he comes back JR could provide a third scoring option either starting or in the 6th man role like Martin and Harden did in the past years.
